"Be-gin-ning n The act or process of bringing or being brought into being."

This definition could equally describe many creative activities, in particular animation where life is breathed into a still image.

Katy Shepherd - Painting, Drawing, Animation

Katy, a trained painter, has been working with animation as part of her artistic practice since 1995. She has been particularly drawn to the ideas around resurrection, of bringing an image to life.

Initially she used old family snap shots as source material to digitally manipulate to create short loops of film. More recently, however, she has returned to her painting roots and has begun to create animations from her own drawings.
