Jonathan Sells is a professional award-winning sculptor / stone carver with over 30 years’ experience creating unique and inspiring pieces of artwork. He works from his studio in Corfe Castle, Dorset, where he is happy to undertake commissions for a wide range of hand carved stonework from large pieces on public display to smaller private works for individuals. These include water features, house names, company logos, garden furniture, memorial headstones, and smaller unique gifts for birthdays, weddings and other celebrations. He also undertakes letter cutting and restoration work.

If you are interested to try stone carving, Jonathan is an enthusiastic and inspiring tutor. He has taught stone carving and sculpture for over 20 years in schools and other venues as well as undertaking private tuition and running workshops for groups of all ages and abilities that can be tailored to different needs. He is currently running classes at Burngate Stone Centre in Langton Matravers near Swanage in Dorset, showing how to use the tools and work the stone. Check it out at www.burngatestonecentre.co.uk.
He will happily take you through a journey of discovery that will surprise you. Once you have had a few lessons you can ask Jonathan to help you create whatever you are interested in carving and he will guide you through it. Many people who do his courses carry on stone carving, it’s rather addictive! If you don’t live locally Jonathan can travel to teach at premises chosen by you.

Sales & commissions:
Jonathan happily undertakes hand carved stonework commissions including fireplaces, garden furniture, water features, birdbaths, functional artefacts for inside and out, wedding and birth gifts etc. Letter cutting and restoration work can also be carried out.
Jonathan has taught Stone carving and Sculpture for many years at various schools and a variety of venues and has worked with a cross section of the community of varying ages and abilities.
