Eliza Simpson - Ceramics

I am a Contemporary Applied Artist who specialises in Ceramics of an organic nature. Inspirations derive from plants and organic form. Having lived by the sea and surrounded by Dorset countryside all my life, there has been an endless supply of textures, patterns and forms to work from. The concept is to take certain aspects from the surrounding environment, and encourage others to appreciate and experience what wonderful shapes and patterns are all around us.

The ceramic pieces explore form and line and often involve multiples or clusters of simple forms with surface detail. All work is hand-built using the traditional process of coiling, combined with a contemporary fusion of colour and pattern to create visual and elegant beauty. After achieving a BA (Hons) in Surface Pattern Design I have gained a wide range of skills which I would like to explore further, therefore allowing my work to evolve over time.
